Four Peaks - Browns Peak
Four Peaks is a must do hike. The actual name of the peak is Brown’s Peak. It is the furthest peak to the left of looking at Four Peaks from Phoenix. It is a 5.1 mile round trip hike with 1,952 elevation gain. The first 2 miles is a trail through the trees then the last half mile goes up the chute to the peak. The rock scramble up the chute is a lot of fun. Best to go in spring or fall. The summer may be a little warm but you are at elevation so it won’t be hot. We like to backpack into the saddle and sleep the night then summit in the morning. Also, I prefer to drive in from the Roosevelt Lake side. The dirt road is well maintained that a passenger vehicle has no problem and no one gets sick on the windy roads coming the other way. Off course if you have and SUV and don’t mind the turns the dirt road from the Phoenix side is a little bit faster and more scenic. Enjoy the hike.
